Ji-Kabuki and Sake Night

A Night for Jikabuki and Jizake (local sake) in Hida-Takayama

If Ji-Kabuki is an art from Gero it is quite rare to see it in Takayama and even rarer to see it with English subtitle. However GreenHotel is holding an event where even foreigners can enjoy this performance, and it's free !

In March you can still view it on the 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th.
The performance starts at 21:00 and lasts 2 hours.
The performance changes every nights.

The local sake bar opens at 20:30 and the costs varies.
Snacks also available.

"Takayama is a popular sightseeing spot in Japan, known for its picturesque old town that is unchanged from the Edo period, its morning market, and one of the most beautiful festivals in Japan, the Takayama Festival.

There is another thing that you should not forget when visiting Takayama: the abundant local sake.  Six historical sake breweries are located in the town for you to visit on foot.

Let's discover and enjoy Japanese Sake !

From the 13th of January to the 26th of February 2017, 

the breweries will open their door to everyone. 

One brewery opens the door of its making process for one week. 

Group up to 15 people are invited to see the inside of the building and taste the sake produce.

No reservation needed / Last entrance 15mn before closing

Aji Matsuri - Festival of Taste + Street Jazz Festival

The Festival of Taste is back in September !


This weekend the Hida Autumn Food will be held in Honmachi.
Enjoy the friendly ambiance of the event and discover the popular foods of Hida Takayama. :

• Salty grilled river fish - Ayu/Amago/Iwana shio-yaki
• Sticky rice balls covered with a sweet soy sauce - Mitarashi dango

10th Street Jazz Festival in Takayama !

7 Jazz-bands from the region gathered to this Festival. 

A free event bringing you music in the old street.

Bus tour to Doburoku Festival at Shirakawa-go!

Date : October 14th to 19th, 2013!!

Doburoku festival is an annual Shinto event taking place at Shirakawa-go.
Doburoku is a milky white, unrefined sake made from rice, rice malt, and water.
Doburoku is brewed from January through October, the festival is the first day we can drink the NEW doburoku!!
You can see traditional performances such as Shishimai, folk songs as well. Let’s visit the festival with us!!

Have you visit traditional Japanese sake brewery???
Takayama, we are blessed with a nice climate and　good quality water from beautiful mountains.

Seven sake breweries open their brewing facilities, which are not open to visitors at other times, for a period of one week in turn. After the guided tour of the brewery, sake is offered to visitors for sampling. In addition, a commemorative golden sake cup made specially in Hida Takayama is presented to each visitor.
