October in Takayama city

Many autumn events will take place in Takayama in October.

Leaves are changing color　and People are harvesting rice and then prepare for winter season.

event: Hida Folk Village autumn light-up 2015
when:  Oct 24th ～Nov 15th(Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Public holiday)

where: Hida Folk Village
entrance fee: Adult 300yen, Child, 100yen

View the beautiful illuminated autumn colours together with traditional Japanese gassyo style houses.






event: Hida Takayama Gourmet Grand Prix
when: Oct 24th and 25th (until 4pm)

where: Hida-Sekai-seikastu-bunka center
          Free shuttle bus will be running 2times every 1hour from JR Takayama Sta, 

Over 30 restaurants will get together and serve a specially dish made by local ingredients.

KIjiya Vally

高山市の東北、丹生川町の奥にある知る人ぞ知る渓谷。



ヒスイ色のきれいな水がさらさら流れる景色は一見の価値アリです！



もちろん泳ぐこともできるのですが人気なのは沢登りとハイキング！



夏のこの時期は子ども連れの家族もチラホラ。



どっぷり自然につかることができますよ！

初めはこんな感じの道をひたすら進みます。
（もちろん車で行くこともできるのでご安心を）

Cosmos Festival

As summer is drawing to its close in the Hida area, we are all looking around for late-blossoming flowers around, and there they are, high up in the at Honokidaira, where cosmos in white or various shades of pink spread across a field measuring 4 hectares. Do not miss out this chance to be surrounded by these little cute flowers before autumn sets in.

A cosmos festival will be held from Aug 24 to Sep 8 to accompany the blossoming of cosmos, during which there will be food booths offering ramen noodles etc.

Take the Hirayu/Shinhotaka line from the public bus terminal and get off at Honokidaira bus stop.
It is just 43 minutes away from Takayama city center by bus.

Fire works in Takayama

Here comes summer in Takayama, finally!!

Our summer is quite short so why not cerebrate it with fire works!

We are going to have a fire work festival this coming Wednesday, July 29th.

A fancy-dress parade in TAKAYAMA

Here, there is a local upcoming event in Takayama.

This event is a very unique one compared to other traditional festivals in Takayama.

Local people dress up in fancy costumes and stroll in the town and dance on streets on this coming Saturday!

Normally, it is relatively very quiet at night in this small town, but you will see different night-scene on the day!
Check it out if you have time!

Kiyomi Lavendar

No worries if you don't have time to go all the way north to Hokkaido to see lavender. Though lessor known and in a smaller scale than its counterparts in Hokkaido, Kiyomi, a small town next to Takayama, also boasts a lavender park covering 7,500 meter squares with around 4,000 lavender plants painting the landscape in violet. The best period is expected to start from late June to mid-July. To coincide with the blossoming of these lovely flowers, a lavender fair will also be held on July 3, 4, 11, 12, in which lavender-related goods are sold. Do remember to check it out if you have time!
