Takayama Hina Doll Festival♡

Do you know we celebrate the Girls' festival on March 3rd in Japan?
We decorate with Hina Doll to celebrate for girls.
Each doll has different faces because it's hand-made.

You can see many kinds of dolls in Takayama from March 1st to April 3rd.
This period, you can join the event "Stamp Rally" that you visit some places to see the dolls and collect stamps. 
If you collect the stamps, you can get a special souvenir!!
It's not only a fun activity, but also you can feel Japanese culture.

If you know "Hyoka" which is Japanese animation and is set in Takayama, there is a special course for it. And if you follow the course and correct some stamps, you can get "Hyoka" original goods as below.

It's only this season to see Hina Doll in Japan!

Snow Activity Tour

Mont Deus Snow Activity Tour

Mont Deus is one of the largest snow parks in the area and its location is conveniently close to Takayama City. You can enjoy snow tubing, sledding and various other snow activities. This trip is fully instructed by an English speaking tour manager.

This year, iSite Takayama is providing a round trip service from Takayama to Mont Deus Snow Park for only 3,800 yen/pp (w/ 500 yen discount for J-Hoppers Guests)

Round trips to Mont Deus will be running morning and afternoon from January 1st until March 7th 2014, every Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

Rental snow boots & snow clothes are available to rent for 500 & 2,000 yen respectively.


Morning Trip:

Depart Takayama Station: 8:30 / Arrive Mont Deus Ski Area: 9:00
       (2 Hour Leisure Time)
Depart Ski Area: 11:00 / Arrive Takayama Station: 11:30~

Afternoon Trip:

Depart Takayama Station: 13:30 / Arrive Mont Deus Ski Area: 14:00
       (2 Hour Leisure Time)
Depart Ski Area: 16:00 / Arrive Takayama Station: 16:30~

Takayama Food Festival on Nov 9th!! (Takara-ichi)

We had a big news!
People in Takayama will try to "Guinness World Records".
They will try to make the longest Hida beef spit‐roasting (150 m) !!
I hope it will be success!

After that, they will serve you the Hida Beef for free!
Normally Hida Beef is really really expensive, but you can eat it for free on that day!
I totally recommend to join it.

And not only for Hida beef, you can find many tasty food there!

You can go the place the festival will be held in 5 minutes from our guesthouse.
It's really near our guesthouse.
We have still some room for available!

Main entrance door was just renovated.

Hi there ,I am Matsu from J-hoppers Hida Takayama.

Recently we had the main door renovated.

The last door was slide door. So when the door was opend,　all the warm air inside got cold .

Also the door made some squeaking noises.

The width of the door is wide enough that backpackers have easy access to come through with carrying large luggage

2010 Hida food festival in Autmn

11th and 12th Sep (9:00～16：00）

Place:Honmachi-street(3minutes walk from J-hoppers)

































There is a food festival at Honmachi-street) on 11th and 12th Sep.
You can not only enjoy local food such as Hida beef,hoba miso,grilled river fish,mitarashi dango but also local foods from Toyama prefecture and Fukui prefecture!!.

Jumble market

Garakuta Fair (Jumble market)


An antique fair started in 1982. Held on the first Sunday of the month from April to October. The streets are temporarily closed to vehicles (called “pedestrians’ paradise”) and over 20 art dealers have stalls on the street. You will enjoy looking at olden daily-life utensils while strolling down the street.

Event is on every first Sunday.
Open hours is form 9am to 5pm
Next event　is held on 5th of September.

Foot bath

Have you known about foot bath?If you go to Onsen areas,you you could also see foot bath.

Takayama came to be known as hot spring city in the pase ten years.

There are 2 foot baths for free in Takayama.

Let me tell you about those ones.

Takayama festival on 14th and 15th April

The Takayama festival will be held on 14th and 15th April.It is known as one of the three most beautiful festivals of Japan. Ornate floats crafted by Hida artisans are pulled around and Takayama becomes truly energetic.





























In the evening on 14th,the floats with lanterns are paraded through the town and the procession is accompanied by sacred music.

It's only a couple of minutes to see the festival from J-hoppers.
