Do you know "Sugidama"??

It is what is called a “sugidama”（杉玉）.

This is normally hung outside of sake　breweries  in Japan.

There is a ceremony for New Sake at Takayama.

Date: 9 th (Sun) December 2012
Time:  10:00 Sugidama dedication ceremony.
         10:15 Traditional song sing in chorus
         10:40  Lion dance(Shishimai)

Place: Funasaka sake breweries.
(about 10min from J-Hoppers Hida Takayama Guest House)

Mt Ontake

Hi there

I went to Mt Ontake which is located in south of Mt Norikura.

Mt Ontake consists of various other Japanese mountains.

The highest peak is 3067m

Luckily we could see snow on the top of the mountain.

It is about 3hours hike to the top and  2hours to go down.

There is a famous onsen called Nigorigo at bottom of the mountain  on the side of Gifu prefecture.

It is really nice after hiking!!

Access:2hours from Takayama by car.

They also sell local vegetable and special local products.

I went to Hida Osaka waterfalls.

 There are so many waterfalls around Hida Takayama area,especially in Hida Osaka

Most of the waterfalls  made by molten rocks  makes themself unique.

If you come to Takayama by car,I recommend you to go there.

There is a festival for the culture and industrial in Takayama.

You can see a beautiful furniture and wood crafts.

Also , you can make an music box　by yourself.
